Which test should my child take — the SSAT or ISEE?
The first step is determining which test your child’s target schools require or prefer. If schools accept both, Cardinal Education recommends taking a diagnostic practice test for each before deciding. The SSAT uses a percentile scoring system and carries a guessing penalty at the Middle and Upper levels. The ISEE uses a stanine scoring system and does not penalize for wrong answers — a difference that changes the optimal strategy significantly. What is the difference between the SSAT and ISEE?
