Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Private School Admissions Consultants
When should we start working with a private school admissions consultant?
For Grade 6 entry, we recommend starting with a consultant in Grade 4 or early Grade 5, at least 18 months before applications are due. For Grade 9 entry, Grade 7 is ideal. Earlier engagement consistently produces stronger outcomes because there is time for real character development work, not just application polish.
How is Cardinal Education different from other private school admissions consultants?
Most consultants focus on the application. We focus on the student first. Our approach is grounded in character development, helping students understand who they are, what they value, and how to communicate that clearly and honestly. That depth is what produces applications that admissions committees at Menlo School, Castilleja, and The Nueva School actually remember.
Which private schools have your students been placed at?
Our placement history includes Menlo School, Castilleja School, The Nueva School, The Harker School, Crystal Springs Uplands School, Sacred Heart Schools Atherton, Pinewood School, Woodside Priory, Stanford Online High School, and 50+ other day schools in NY, Seattle, and LA. We also place students at national boarding schools, including Phillips Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, and Lawrenceville.
Do you work with international families?
Yes. Cardinal Education works with families across six continents, including Singapore, China, the UAE, the UK, South Korea, and Brazil. All consulting sessions are available online, and our consultants are experienced in guiding international students through private school admissions and national boarding school admissions.
What does the full admissions consulting process look like?
The process begins with a deep discovery session covering your child’s academic history, learning style, personal values, and goals. From there we build a strategic school list, develop the application narrative across personal statement, parent statement, and interview, and manage every deadline through submission. We also offer standalone services for families who need support with one specific component.
